Points:
1. A Word That Burns
2. The Humility To Hear
3. Faithful Feet
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1
Faith is essential to step into a future that only God can provide.
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17
Faith is not merely believing in the promises of God; it’s being willing to trust His integrity and commitment to fulfil His promises.
Three practical ways to cultivate faith:
1.A WORD THAT BURNS
We need a deeper understanding of the word of God – simply reading the Bible may not be effective in building faith – we need to hear the “Rhema” word of God (the living, active word that speaks directly to your heart).
Faith doesn’t come through mere knowledge and understanding of Scripture but through the active hearing and reception of the word.
2. THE HUMILITY TO HEAR
The tree of life vs the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden – symbols for faith and knowledge. While knowledge can be learned, it is ultimately God’s way and control that leads to true faith.
It takes great humility to step away from our need to know and trust in God’s will and way.
3. FAITHFUL FEET
Faith 2.0 – being willing to step out of your comfort zone and take risks in following God. An openness to new experiences and opportunities that align with God’s guidance.
Being willing to take a leap of faith and try new things can lead us to discover new truths and deepen our spiritual journey. By fostering a heart attitude and a humble willingness to trust God’s integrity, we can build faith and navigate life’s challenges with courage and confidence.
4. Discussion Questions
1. How does the “Rhema” word of God differ from simply reading the Bible? Why is it important to actively listen and receive the living, active word that speaks directly to our hearts?
2. What does it look like to embrace the living word of God and to actively seek and receive His guidance in your life?
3. What does “faith 2.0” mean to you, especially in the context of stepping out of your comfort zone and taking risks for God? Share an example of a time when you stepped out in faith, and how it transformed your spiritual journey.
4. How can we foster an openness to new experiences and opportunities that align with God’s guidance within our Small Groups? What role does encouragement and support from community play in helping us take leaps of faith?
5. In what areas of your life do you need to actively listen for God’s guidance? How can you practically implement the concept of “faith 2.0” and step out in obedience?
Take a moment to pray for one another, asking God for the courage to actively listen, the humility to trust His ways, and the obedience to step out in faith. Pray for God’s guidance and strength as you navigate new experiences and challenges in your faith journey.
