Scriptures:
Genesis 12: 1-4 (NIV)
Matthew 28: 16-20 (NIV)
Points:
1. Going is a GOD THING
2. God builds GENERATIONALLY
3. Big stages aren’t the prize, BIG STORIES ARE
4. COURAGE trumps competency, (almost) every time.
1. GOING IS A GOD THING
The call to go began with the story of Abraham and continues through our life today.
Going is a God thing when it’s in His direction.
The goal in life is not that we do good – it’s that we KNOW GOD.
Q: What has God called you to? Does it look like leaving the familiar, for more?
Genesis:12 1- 4 (NIV)
“The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.”
2.GOD BUILD GENERATIONALLY
Where are you rushing to?
Matthew 28 – The disciples went. We are a product of this generation. We exist today, because when Jesus said “GO”, they went.
Matthew 28:16-20 (NIV)
“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”“
3. BIG STAGES AREN’T THE PRIZE, BIG STORIES ARE
We have the privilege to serve a bigger story.
Ephesians 1:22-23: “And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
“I will make your name great”“
4. COURAGE TRUMPS COMPETENCY (ALMOST ALWAYS)
Let’s be those people who celebrate courage, because He’s good.
