Open House: Momentum in the Middle

Momentum in the Middle: Leading Through Change with Clarity, Consistency & Collaboration

Term One often comes in hot—with energy, vision, and a collective sense of we’re going to do this! But what happens when the hype fades and the hard work begins?

Welcome to Term Two.

This is where momentum is tested. Where conviction is proved. Where faith becomes less about excitement and more about endurance. As a church family, as leaders, and as people building businesses, families, or futures—we’ve all felt the reality of this shift.

The Change Curve: When the Dip Hits

Picture this for a simple graph:

  • Performance on the vertical axis.
  • Time on the horizontal.
  • A sharp dip right after a bold decision to change.

Sound familiar?

We all start strong. We say this is the year. We commit to better habits, healthier rhythms, stronger families, and more fruitful faith. But inevitably, a dip sets in. It’s the moment after the declaration when discomfort kicks in. When expectations don’t match experience. When momentum feels more like resistance.

And in that dip, we face two choices:

  • Let fear drive us into slow death—a subtle retreat into old ways.
  • Or fight forward in faith toward the future God has promised.
Three Keys to Keep Momentum

As we find ourselves heading toward the middle of the year, here are three simple yet powerful tools to help you keep going:

1. Clarity Over Chaos

There are a thousand voices vying for your attention—newsfeeds, headlines, opinions, even well-meaning friends. But God is not a God of confusion. He’s a God of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33).

Now is the time to anchor your heart in His clarity.
Ask yourself:

  • What has God spoken over my life?
  • What does His Word say about this season?
  • Where am I chasing noise instead of trusting His voice?

When the world gets loud, lean into clarity. Clarity produces faith. Chaos produces fear.

2. Consistency Builds Confidence

Let’s be real—most change isn’t exciting. It’s boring. It’s daily. It’s unseen.

But consistency is where confidence is born. In the gym. In prayer. In parenting. In business. In church. It’s showing up when no one else sees.

In a shifting world, steady leadership is one of the most powerful things you can offer. Be the same person every time. Rooted in purpose. Committed to the process. Present, even when it’s tough.

As the quote goes:

“People may doubt what you say, but they’ll believe what you do.” – Louis Cass

3. Collaboration Over Independence

Ephesians 4 reminds us that the body of Christ grows “as each part does its work.”
That includes you.

In seasons of change, it’s easy to go solo. To retreat. To protect your time, energy, and emotions. But the church wasn’t built to be independent—it was built to be collaborative.

Here’s a simple challenge:
Pause. Look someone in the eyes. And ask,
“How can I help you?”

You don’t need all the answers. You just need the courage to care. Collaboration breaks the cycle of burnout, loneliness, and isolation. It activates the beauty of the body of Christ—joined together, supporting one another in love.

Final Thought: Keep Climbing

The curve of change is real. But so is the reward.

If you’re feeling tired, you’re not alone. But don’t check out. Lean in. Keep climbing. Let your clarity lead you. Let your consistency anchor you. Let your collaboration ignite something new in others.

And when in doubt, try and ask those around you:
“How can I help you?”

We believe that the best is yet to come—not just because we say it, but because we’re showing up to see it.
