Overflow: When Heaven Touches Earth
Sometimes, all it takes is a single word to change everything. For us, that word in 5786 is overflow.
What does it mean to live in overflow? What does it mean for heaven to reach down and interrupt the ordinary with something supernatural? The heartbeat of this message—Vision Sunday at Linc Church—is not just inspiration for a new year. It’s a prophetic invitation to live differently, to believe deeper, to walk bolder. It’s a call to see the light touch everything.
In John 1, we hear of a light that shines in the darkness—a light that cannot be overcome. This is not poetic metaphor. This is the reality of Jesus’ presence piercing the decay of despair, the mess of mistake, and the confusion of culture. God’s glory doesn’t wait for us to tidy up. It steps into broken family stories, long seasons of depression, missed callings, financial struggle, and anxiety-laden identities—not to condemn, but to redeem. This is the overflow of heaven: God’s grace poured into the cracks of everyday people.
We heard the stories. Stories of widows who became ministers. Sons who rose from despair. Families restored. Hearts reignited. These weren’t surpasing saints—they were ordinary people who responded to an extraordinary invitation: to let God’s light infiltrate every area of their lives. Not just Sunday morning. But marriages, businesses, grief, dreams, fears, and finances. Everything.
The prophetic picture that emerged is clear: this is a year to step into the waterfall. Not to stand at a safe distance and admire what God is doing in the church, but to step in—fully. Into the flow of His Spirit. Into His agenda. Into places where we’ve hesitated or held back. Yes, it’s beautiful. But it’s also risky. Overflow requires surrender. It requires release.
This is where the Hebrew year 5786 becomes more than a number—it becomes a divine roadmap. The final digit “6” is represented by the Hebrew letter Vav—a symbol of connection. A nail. A bridge between heaven and earth. Vav represents the finished work of Christ, where the nails united our brokenness with His fullness. At the cross, the veil tore, and heaven’s agenda could now flood earth’s reality. Vav is the invitation of the year: will you be a bridge where heaven meets earth?
This is not hype. This is not optimism. This is a prophetic charge. You weren’t just called to get by. You were born to overflow.
That means in our faith, we stop living empty and start receiving from God’s fullness: grace upon grace. In our families, we release scriptural blessing, peace, and purpose. In our work and calling, we stop compartmentalizing and start merging Monday to Saturday with heavenly significance.
This isn’t about watching others receive breakthrough—it’s about realizing that the same flow is available to you. Redemption isn’t reserved for the stage. It’s for every person who dares to trust God with their story. Everyone who chooses to jump into that river. Because once you step in, the current of heaven will carry you further than your striving ever could.
You weren’t made for measure. You were made for more. The light is shining. The grace is flowing. The veil is torn. Heaven has opened. The waterfalls are roaring.
Don’t just stare. Step in.
Overflow is not what we “claim”—it’s what we partner with. It’s a story we live. It’s surrender. It’s courage. It’s obedience. It’s the year, more than ever before, we let the light touch everything.

Activation:
Faith:
God doesn’t desire for you to live from a dry cup. He longs for you to know His grace in abundance. Overflow begins when we stop striving and start abiding. The invitation is to stop surviving on Sunday-to-Sunday encouragement and cultivate a daily rhythm of connection with the Living Word.
This Week: Begin each morning by reading John 1:1–18 slowly. Ask God to illuminate a new truth, a fresh grace. Write one insight down each day and ask, “Where are you shining your light in me today?”
Family:
Overflow isn’t just about personal joy; it’s about generational blessing. When we allow the light to touch our hearts, it eventually touches our homes. As heaven floods your soul, may it also flood your speech, your parenting, your patience, and your pursuit of unity.
This Week: Set aside a family meal to invite each person to share one area they want God’s overflow in this year. End by praying together—short and simple, inviting God’s light into each request.
Future:
You were created with a calling that is greater than you can orchestrate. Overflow is the prophetic signal that God is aligning heaven’s purpose with earth’s obedience. The year 5786 carries divine favor—but it’s in your response that destiny is unlocked. Don’t wait for perfect conditions. Partner with what God is already doing.
This Week: Write down the area where you feel most stuck or disqualified. Then, in faith, write a declaration beginning with: “Heaven is meeting me in…” and finish the sentence. Declare it daily. God is inviting you to redeem the delay with obedience.
