Day 1: The Garden of Surrender – Redemption for Our Will
Scripture: Luke 22:42-44
42 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” 43 An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. 44 And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
Reflection:
In Eden, a choice led to a fall. In Gethsemane, a choice led to redemption. Jesus, the Second Adam, knelt where the first stood and chose surrender. As His blood fell to the earth, the power of obedience was restored. The struggle was real, the weight unbearable—but the outcome was victory over self. Your will, once fractured by sin, is made whole through His.
Response:
Where is God asking for your surrender? Release control and trust that His will is better than your own.
Prayer:
Lord, help me say yes when it costs me. Let my will be aligned to Yours. Amen.
Day 2: The Bruises of Our Iniquity – Redemption for Our Sin
Scripture: Isaiah 53:5
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
Reflection:
Beaten but silent, Jesus bore what we couldn’t even name. The bruises beneath His skin speak to what’s hidden in us—our failures, our flaws, our sin. Though man couldn’t see it, heaven did, and the blood beneath the surface cried out for mercy. Grace absorbs what guilt once defined.
Response:
What does it look like to bring the weight of what you carry to the foot of the cross today? Shame, regret, sin, pain – bring it to Jesus today.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for taking my place. I receive the freedom purchased in Your pain. Amen.
Day 3: The Stripes That Heal – Redemption for Our Healing
Scripture: 1 Peter 2:24
24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
Reflection:
Each lash tore flesh, but also tore through disease, affliction, and fear. Jesus didn’t just take pain—He transformed it. The stripes on His back ripple through time, declaring healing for bodies, minds, and souls. What felt like defeat became the declaration: “Healed. Healed. Healed.”
Response:
Believe for healing today. What does letting Jesus strengthen you in your weakness or pain look like? Jesus invites us to receive His body which was broken for us – in exchange for our wholeness and redemption – And so with a heart wide open, receive the gift of His body today.
Prayer:
Jesus, You endured suffering so I could be whole. I receive Your healing touch. Amen.
Day 4: The Crown of Thorns – Redemption for Our Mind
Scripture: Matthew 27:29
29 and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.
Reflection:
Mental torment has a name—so do anxiety, depression, and fear. But so does healing. His name is Jesus. The thorns pierced His head to declare peace over yours. The curse became a crown so that you could receive a whole, renewed mind.
Response:
Invite Jesus into your thought life. Where fear reigns, let His peace rule. What does it look like to let Jesus redeem your mind today?
Prayer:
Jesus, I give You my thoughts, fears, and doubts. Let Your truth reign in my mind. Amen.
Day 5: The Nails in His Hands – Redemption for Our Work
Scripture: Psalm 90:17
17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.
Reflection:
The Creator’s hands were nailed down, but through that surrender, our hands were released. No longer do we work to earn worth—our work is now framed by grace. Your calling, your creativity, your effort—they matter, because they’re held in His.
Response:
Offer your daily work—no matter how mundane—as worship. Let purpose replace striving. Ask yourself today what it looks like to surrender the work of your hands?
Prayer:
Lord, bless my hands and the work they do. Let it reflect Your goodness and grace. Amen.
Day 6: The Nails in His Feet – Redemption for Our Walk
Scripture: Romans 16:20
20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.
Reflection:
His feet were pierced, yet His authority remained. Through His wounds, your path is made clear. No longer wandering, no longer weighed by guilt—you walk in light, purpose, and power. Dominion was restored, not by force, but through sacrifice.
Response:
Take a step of faith today. Where have you been hesitant? Trust that His blood marks the path ahead.
Prayer:
Jesus, lead me forward. I walk in Your victory and not my fear. Amen.
Day 7: The Spear in His Side – Redemption for Community
Scripture: John 19:34
34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.
Reflection:
One last wound opened heaven’s heart. Blood and water—cleansing and rebirth. From His side, the Church was born, and unity was made possible. Just as Eve came from Adam’s side, the Bride comes from Christ’s. In His body, we find belonging. In His sacrifice, we find each other.
Response:
What does it look like to say yes to His bride today, The church of Christ? and to say yes to the beauty of a restored community.
Prayer:
Lord, make me a builder of unity. Let my life be shaped by Your love. Amen.
Seven wounds. Seven ways He redeemed us. A garden began the story, and a garden bore its redemption. The veil was torn. The cross spoke the final word—but the empty tomb speaks louder still. Good Friday sees Easter Sunday. And we know how the story ends.
