Sanctuary in the City: Podcast Conversation

Building What Heaven Sees

There are some words that don’t just describe a place – they awaken something. Sanctuary is one of those words.

It’s not just about bricks and beams. It’s a heartbeat. A holy hush. A sacred pause in a world that won’t stop spinning.

A sanctuary isn’t defined by silence alone – but by presence. The presence of the One who still whispers in gardens… who walks among lampstands… who fills stone temples and human hearts. God doesn’t just visit sanctuaries. He dwells in them. And He delights in building them – not just as buildings, but as places of belonging, beauty, and blessing for generations to come.

The psalmist says it like this:
“One thing I ask… that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on His beauty…” (Psalm 27:4)

We were made for that. For communion. For up-close, eye-to-eye, heart-to-heart encounters with our Creator.

But in an age of screens, speed, and constant stimulation, we risk trading divine encounter for digital echo. Our souls grow weary from the noise, and yet – still – the sanctuary calls.

It calls us back to wonder.
Back to clarity.
Back to higher ground.

Psalm 73 puts it this way:
“Until I entered the sanctuary of God… then I understood.”
That’s when the fog lifts. That’s when chaos is reframed in the context of the Kingdom.
Sanctuary isn’t escape – it’s encounter.
It doesn’t pull us out of the world – it plants us more deeply in it, with heaven’s perspective.

A true sanctuary is a home, high ground, and holy place. It’s where the people of God are housed – and the presence of God is hosted.

This vision is not nostalgic or romantic. It’s prophetic – strategic – biblical.

In Exodus 25:8, God instructed the Israelites:
“Build Me a sanctuary, so I may dwell among them.”
The sanctuary wasn’t an accessory to their spiritual lives. It was their spiritual life. A mobile home for heaven, planted in the center of their camp.

And we sense God saying the same today:
“Make Me room – right here, in the middle of your Monday-to-Sunday.”
Not just in sacred halls, but in everyday spaces – boardrooms, coffee shops, classrooms, and cafes.
Where prayers become lifelines.
Where presence lingers.
Where people come alive.

Sanctuary is more than a noun – it’s a culture. A divine atmosphere we’re invited to steward.
This new project birthed in the heart of our church isn’t just about expanding square footage – it’s about expanding capacity. Not just to gather more people, but to carry more purpose.
To host more healing.
To hold more hope.
To become a people marked by peace, pulse, and prophetic promise in the heart of a growing city.

And this call isn’t reserved for architects and engineers.
It’s for laborers of every kind –
Those who plant in tears and reap in joy.
Those who build with treasure, time, and talent.
Those who pray, pioneer, and persist.

Jesus said the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
Let’s be the few.
Let’s be the faith-bold, Spirit-led, future-minded builders who believe one sanctuary moment can rewrite someone’s eternity.

At Linc, we’re not just building buildings. We’re creating incubators of revival – where lives are awakened, leaders are launched, and legacies are born.
We’re crafting spaces that whisper “You belong” before a word is ever preached.
We’re building now so that our children will one day build more.

So whether you’re laying bricks or lifting prayers…
Writing checks or writing curriculum…
Showing up early or staying up late –
You’re part of something eternal.
Something sacred.
Something heaven sees.

Because maybe the greatest miracle of sanctuary isn’t what we build –
but what God begins in us.

Maybe the most holy ground is the place where hearts awaken…
and begin to build again.

Welcome to the sanctuary in the city.
Let’s build what heaven sees.

    Activation:

    • Faith: : God is not just asking us to build a building – He is forming our hearts. Sanctuary starts in the soul. It’s cultivated in personal devotion, deep peace, and a longing for sacred rhythm amid worldly noise.
      • This Week: Find a quiet place for an uninterrupted moment. No phone. No agenda. Just presene. Let that place become your personal sanctuary – where God whispers fresh vision and peace into your heart.
    • Family: Sanctuaries are passed on. They form the backdrop of generational faith. When families build together – praying, planning, sowing – a legacy is sown in love and trust.
      • This Week: Plan a family moment to talk about what you’re building together – spiritually and practically. Whether over dinner or a walk, ask, “What kind of home do we want to build for others to encounter Jesus?” Pray over it together.
    • Future: What if God is using this season to ignite something dormant in your calling, your courage, or your creativity? Sanctuary isn’t just where we gather. It’s who we become.
      • This Week: Write down one dream, vision, or purpose that has lain dormant. Pray over it every day this week and ask God how this season of building could be the awakening moment for your own.
